A reminder that folk music is aboput a lot more than the Mumfords. This year Ranald and Iain’s strategy is to perform a few songs in amongst a selection of favourites, which both of them knew in the dim and distant past when they were both students in the mid sixties, Ranald in Aberdeen and Iain in Edinburgh. All those years later they’ve realised that each played some of the same songs but in a solo capacity, so they’ve now got the chance to rearrange those songs to play as a duo. They’re also introducing a guest in the form of old school and Inverness Folk Club friend Hamish Grant (Hamey), a superb singer of unaccompanied songs and sometime organiser and resident singer at the famous Glenfarg Village Folk Club! The ‘Midsummer Gig’ is, as usual at the Beaufort Hotel, Culduthel Road, Inverness, starting at 8pm with a ticket price of £8. Tickets can be bought in advance at the Beaufort Reception from Friday 1st June, or reserved by e-mail at mgillfolk@gmail.com
